Description
This pair of ammonite halves is super large and dramatic. At this size they extremely rare. Externally, the rich brown fern like sutures of the back of the ammonite in places are in bas-relief and areas of nacre containing the aragonite are also present. Internally, most of the chambers are open and filled with brown crystals of various sizes, while others are filled with light honey coloured crystals. The Fibonacci whorl is dramatically exposed as are the final four chambers – where the creature spent its latter life – which are filled with different coloured petrified ocean sediment. This would look fantastic in a modern beach house or as a modern re-statement of a classical shape in an office or showroom environment.
