Description
This slab of petrified wood features superb colourisation. Its colours radiate from a darkening sky into a chestnut ochre. Coloured wood is much rarer than the pale colours normally associated with petrified material. The front is polished while the rear surface shows the colours and surface of untouched Nature. This specimen is from a full trunk or branch – not a fragment. This specimen has an unusual area of natural quartz crystal. Fossil wood is extremely durable and hard material, and is very resistant to even steel knife scratching. It therefore can be quite a dramatic and functional piece – like an exceptional flower arrangement base!
