Description

This beautiful, large, fire nautilus at this size is rare. It has great presence as well as astonishing colour , normally associated with the Cleoniceras Ammonite. This is an exceptionately large Nautilus and as such is rare. The Nautilus shows beautiful fire greens and reds over most of its nacre. Part of the nacre however, is exposed showing the rich brown individual chambers that once protected the growing Nautilus. A further segment shows the petrified ocean ooze indicating the final resting position of this predator some 105 million years later!

Note: Unlike most suppliers of this type of Nautilus – the one you see is the one that will be shipped. No two nautilus are the same, and all are specifically chosen to be free of any fissures, restorations and rocks glues, or cracks. These are common in this type nautilus and fossil matrix.

Dimensions: 200mm x 140mm
Genus: Cymatoceras
Age: Cretaceous 105 million years
Locality: Mahajanga, Madagascar
