Description
This stunning pendant features a dragon coiling around the face of a woman. Blending into each other, there is an certain dual imagery of the dragon’s tail becoming part of the human form to become almost mermaid like, whilst still belonging to the dragon itself. A large rosette features to the lower side of the woman’s face and the dragons tail snakes wonderfully around the it. At 25,000 years, the ivory matrix still allows such beauty and accuracy in the carving, and time has aged the piece giving it colour and character. Thin hairline fractures run through the length of the pendant, but they are not structural – and the silver frame supports the whole piece too. The effect is one of anquity, authenticity and beauty. The mammoth ivory is a rich tan/coffee colour. The back solid silver scroll work is patterned into a sun emblem and of high quality hand made construction. The bail is hinged. This is a one-off both in terms of the unique ivory colour and in the skill of the individual carving.
