Description
Black Uruguayan Amethyst. Discovered 2012, and named Black Amethyst, these beautiful formations are made of clusters of amethyst points radiating out like little florets. They range in colour from diamante black, grey, mauve, and lilac. These are very unusual formations of amethyst, and many of them would be formed from stalactite phenomena. This beautiful piece has a sparkling, cave like mouth whose entrance is littered with calcite crystals. Looking further in, stalactites hang from the roof with corresponding stalagmites rising from the floor. This specimen has fine drussy crystals alongside larger calcite crystals. The surrounding material is a soft dove grey / blue agate. There are numerous little florets of crystal; dark black amethyst covers most of its front and back aspects.
